Privacy policy

This is an English courtesy translation. The binding version of this policy is the Spanish one, at /privacidad/.

1. Purpose

This policy describes the nature and origin of the information published on this site, the regime applicable to requests concerning that information, and the handling of the data generated by browsing. It is read together with the legal notice and the methodology.

2. Nature and origin of the published information

All the information this site publishes comes from publicly accessible official registries and sources of the Ecuadorian State, whose release answers legal mandates of transparency and registry publicity (the principle by which public registries can be consulted by anyone). This site generates no information of its own: it limits itself to gathering, organizing and making findable preexisting, publicly accessible information, reproduced as it stands in the source, with no additions, corrections or assessments.

No private sources are used and no third-party databases are acquired. Consulting a profile's registry information is materially equivalent to consulting the public registry it comes from. Content a company voluntarily contributes about itself, under the services described in the legal notice, is published identified as such and clearly separated from the registry information.

3. Standing as an intermediary of public information

This site is neither the source of the information nor its custodian, and holds no power over its content. The published data exists, is public and can be consulted regardless of its appearance in this directory; its eventual removal from this site would alter neither its public character nor its permanence in the registry of origin, which would remain accessible to any interested party.

4. Why corrections are not processed on this site

The directory is rebuilt automatically and periodically from the official source, with no manual intervention on individual records. Consequently, it is not materially possible to rectify, complete, qualify or erase on this site a data point that stands in the source: any modification made here would be undone at the next rebuild, and this site holds no power to alter the content of the public registry the information comes from.

Every request for rectification, updating or erasure concerning the information's content must be directed to the competent public body that publishes it, the only one that generates it, keeps it and can modify it. Once the correction is made at the registry of origin, it will be reflected on the site in the ordinary update cycle. This site neither processes nor mediates such requests.

Only communications flagging a discrepancy between what this site publishes and what stands in the official source, that is, a reproduction error attributable to the site itself, will be handled. They can be sent through the data correction channel, stating the RUC, the link of the corresponding profile and the data as it stands at the origin.

5. Browsing data

This site uses Google Analytics 4, an audience measurement service provided by Google LLC, with the sole purpose of understanding the directory's aggregate use and improving it: pages visited, approximate geographic origin, device and browser used, visit source and path within the site.

For that purpose, Google Analytics sets cookies in the visitor's browser (among them _ga, lasting up to two years) that assign a random identifier to the browser, not to the person's identity, and transmits usage data to Google such as pages viewed, the cookie identifier and technical device data. Per the Google Analytics 4 documentation, the IP address is used to derive an approximate geographic location and is discarded without being logged or stored. Google processes this information on servers that may sit outside Ecuador and acts under its own privacy terms.

The site also uses Microsoft Clarity, a behavior analytics service provided by Microsoft Corporation, which records the visitor's interaction with the pages (scrolls, clicks and pointer movements) to build heatmaps and session replays that surface usability problems in the directory. Per Clarity's masking documentation, content classified as sensitive (numbers and email addresses) is masked by default and whatever is typed into any form field is masked in every mode, with masked content never transmitted to Clarity.

For that purpose, Clarity sets first-party cookies (among them _clck and _clsk) that assign a pseudonymous identifier to the browser, not to the person's identity, and link the pages viewed within one session, along with Microsoft third-party cookies (among them MUID) used, per Clarity's cookie list, for advertising, analytics and operational purposes. The approximate geographic location derives from the IP address. Microsoft processes this information on servers that may sit outside Ecuador and acts under its own privacy statement.

This data is used solely for statistics and site improvement. It is not crossed with the directory's profiles, no personal profiles are built and no browsing data is shared or sold. Visitors can prevent measurement through the official Google Analytics opt-out add-on, the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out system in which Clarity participates, private browsing, or blocking cookies in their browser.

Purchases of the PDF report. Payment takes place on a Stripe Payments page (Stripe, Inc.), which collects and processes card data under its own policy; this site never receives it. Of each order we keep the email address given at payment, the company consulted, the amount and the dates, solely to send the report, allow its download from the purchase history and handle claims. The email carrying the report is sent through Cloudflare's infrastructure. Purchases are recorded in Google Analytics as conversion events with the amount and the order identifier, without the email or any other personal data.

6. Technical logs

Like any web server, the site logs minimal technical data of each request (IP address, date and page requested) exclusively for security and diagnostics, kept for a limited period.
